Answer This, Part One

What is "romantic love"?

[not a rhetorical question - really wanted to see what kinds of answers you might have]

Um, I'll give it a few shots:

** It's when you want to kiss someone on the mouth?

** It's love that usually has at least *some* physical feelings w/ it.

** It's what gives you butterflies in your stomach.

hey, I think that I have a good answer!!!
I think it is love that causes you to act romantically even when you don't feel it, for the other person. although, it ends up being so good for you too.

Ironically enough, this same question was posed to us in our social psychology course last semester. There was a lot of variety in answer -- from those scorned to those still searching to those happily married. The only real definition we ever got was in comparison to something else. Romantic love vs familial love, love vs. marriage... that sort of thing. The only decision made was that romantic love is a choice that's made verses some legal contract or social obligation.

So I suppose my answer is more technical in that I would say it's a conscious mating decision to put yourself emotionally on the line for someone else in hopes of reciprocation... I'm a dreamer at heart, obviously. ;)
